The US Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus Thursday King Concert Hall
For more than 6 decades, the Musical Ambassadors of the Army have traveled throughout the United States, performing in diverse venues in communities of all sizes! The US Army Field Band's Concert Band and Soldiers' Chorus, the Army's premier touring ensembles, are comprised of a 60-piece concert band and a 24-voice chorus, featuring highly trained musicians from renowned institutions across the country. With over 75 years of performances, they tour nationally and internationally, presenting a program of classical, pop, patriotic, and show tunes that appeal to all audiences. In addition to formal concerts, they provide educational outreach and perform at high-profile events such as presidential inaugurations. The Langston Hughes Project Saturday King Concert Hall
This show is a music, spoken word, and multi-media production by Dr. Ron McClurdy (music professor at University of Southern California and member of the Grammy Foundation) and is based on Langston Hughes' masterwork, Ask Your Moma: 12 Moods for Jazz. This epic poem serves as Hughes' Social commentary for the struggle for freedom and equality for Africans and African Americans in the 1960s. While it was written more than 50 years ago, the words continue to be uniquely relevant and timely today.
